What about the game?

In my PlayStation 2 days, I would have avoided playing this title, simply because it was on the original PlayStation and I may have played it briefly, most likely not as playing this game some 20+ years later I don’t recall any of the missions.

So with a new fresh (old) eyes, I played the game, and to my surprise I found this game to play very well for a game made in 2002! its a good mix of combat and cinematics and reminds me a bit of the original golden eye game. The first level sees James infiltrate a fortified castle on a snowy mountain in Austria, ending up in a battle in a cable car.

It’s a shame missed it back in the day, I’m not sure ill play it again, simply because of time constraints but who knows , maybe one day.

So for now, why not watch me play the game on YouTube, give it a like if you like, if not no worries, see you next time.

Summary of the Game

007 Nightfire is a 2002 first-person shooter developed by Eurocom and published by Electronic Arts for the Xbox (along with PS2, GameCube, and later PC). It stars Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in an original story not directly tied to a specific film.

Setting and Story You play as Bond investigating Raphael Drake, a powerful industrialist whose company Phoenix International is secretly building a powerful space-based weapon system. The campaign takes you across glamorous and dangerous locations — an Austrian castle, a Japanese skyscraper, underwater bases, and even zero-gravity sections on a space station. Classic Bond themes of espionage, betrayal, and world domination run throughout.

Gameplay

  • Core Shooter: Solid first-person action with a good variety of weapons and gadgets.
  • Vehicle Sections: Includes memorable driving sequences, most notably racing an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish through Tokyo streets.
  • Gadgets & Bond Moments: Q-branch gadgets, laser watches, and cinematic quick-time style actions.
  • Multiplayer: Supports up to 4 players locally and online (at the time) with a range of modes and maps.

Graphics & Sound On the original Xbox it looked very good for 2002, with sharp character models (especially Brosnan’s likeness), detailed environments, and a strong orchestral score mixed with classic Bond themes. Voice acting is solid, featuring Brosnan and several other actors from the film series.

Reception & Legacy Nightfire is widely regarded as one of the stronger James Bond games of the Brosnan era. It was praised for its fun mix of shooting, driving, and gadgets, making it a highlight of the early 2000s 007 games. While the campaign is relatively short (5–7 hours), it delivers a polished, cinematic Bond experience that still holds appeal for retro fans today.
