What about the game?

Part of the Air Conflicts series, Vietnam puts you in the Vietnam war as an American combat pilot, within the first 30 minutes you’ll be flying a jet, flying two helicopters (Cobra and Huey), being a gunner and mowing down the enemy troops. Controls are easy to get to grips with, not full on flight sim affair, but pitched well between being to ‘arcadey’

I enjoyed this game, despite its biggest drawback with is the restricted flight space, which in itself wouldn’t be a huge problem other than the big red grid that ruins the immersion, a much simpler turn back warning could have been a better choice. I’ve played the two other games in this series Secret Wars and Pacific Carriers, its quite different to those, especially secret wars with a wider open game area.

Air Conflicts Vietnam still is a good flight combat game, if you like this type of game, go grab a copy, as in the current gen gaming, there isn’t a massive choice so going back to the good old Xbox360 isn’t as bad as it may seem!

So for now, why not watch me play the game on YouTube, give it a like if you like, if not no worries, see you next time.

Summary of the Game

Summary of the Game

Air Conflicts: Vietnam is a 2013 arcade-style flight combat game developed by Games Farm and published by BitComposer Entertainment (Kalypso Media) for Xbox 360.

Setting and Story Set during the Vietnam War, you play as Joe Thompson, a young US Navy pilot. The campaign follows his emotional journey through intense aerial combat, with a narrative that explores the human cost of war, family relationships, and the moral complexities of the conflict.

Gameplay

  • Arcade Flight Action: Pilot a variety of authentic Vietnam-era aircraft including fighter jets (F-4 Phantom, F-100 Super Sabre), helicopters (AH-1 Cobra), and more.
  • Mission Variety: Bombing runs, dogfights, helicopter gunship missions, and rescue operations across jungles, rivers, and naval bases.
  • Progression: Unlock new planes and upgrades as you complete missions.
  • Multiplayer: Supports local and online modes for competitive dogfights.

Graphics & Sound The game features explosive, Hollywood-style visuals with dramatic fire effects, dense jungle environments, and a strong rock soundtrack that captures the era. While not the most realistic simulator, it delivers fast-paced, accessible aerial combat.

Reception & Legacy It’s a straightforward, pick-up-and-play flight game aimed at fans of arcade-style air combat rather than hardcore simulation. Many players enjoyed the variety of aircraft and the intense Vietnam War atmosphere, making it a fun (if sometimes overlooked) entry in the Air Conflicts series.
